Nothing Puts Crown Hill-O-Ween in a Corner

“Rain or lots of rain!”

That was the motto of the 5th Annual Crown Hill-O-Ween Pet Parade and Costume Contest. Predictions had been ominous. Local news issued stern warnings that an“atmospheric river” Was coming our way. The storm was set to land, they said, on the very day of Crown Hill-O-Ween.

The intrepid volunteers shrugged their shoulders, donned their hot dog costumes, and put on a show. They knew their Crown Hill neighbors would not be put off by the chance of torrential rain and gusts up to 35 miles per hour.

And so, tents were staked and zip-tied to nearby objects, and the Great Pumpkin appeared as usual. Of course he did, because- if you didn’t know already- a pumpkin patch that’s filled of pets in costume and their loving humans all cheering for each other, well that’s the most sincere patch around.

Mother Nature must have intervened herself, because the day was mild throughout the judging as well as the parading. There was only the one downpour, as the judges were finalizing their decisions, and everyone braved it right through as we knew they would because this ain’t no disco. This ain’t no country club either. This is Crown Hill. Crown Hill, where the volunteers dress as Chicago Dogs and Dogs from Heaven, Dogs with mustard, dogs with relish. One volunteer was actually a dog, dressed as a hot dog.

Grand Marshal Letty handed out Pawtographs to her fans before leading off the parade. Later, she awarded the “Letty’s Choice” award.

Do you know a pet who would enjoy being the Grand Marshal for 2026?

Drop us a line!

There is no tougher job than the job of judge at a pet costume contest. How can anyone choose between all of these amazing contestants?

For their hard work, for their willingness to come to the park and sit in a tent during a storm, and for their dedication to making Crown Hill Fun as Heck, we’d like to thank our judges.
