CHUV Committee for Smart Growth

The April Crown Hill Village board meeting included a conversation with the people who powered the Crown Hill Urban Village Committee for Smart Growth. They briefed the board on their work over the past four years attending HALA focus groups, speaking at city council meetings, building relationships with the city, and connecting the neighborhood to the upzone process.

The group, started as a subcommittee of the Crown Hill Neighborhood Association, had representatives of all the neighborhoods (Crown Hill, Greenwood, Whittier Heights, and Loyal Heights) that have a stake in the Crown Hill Urban Village. The city council voted on the upzone in March, and while there is more work to do for smart growth, the original goal of connecting the neighborhood to the city council upzone process is complete.

The Crown Hill Village board voted to add a representative from the Crown Hill Urban Village Committee for Smart Growth. We will move forward in the same spirit of sharing information and creating a seat at the table for the city process of growth and development.
