Crown Hill Urban Village Upzoned The city council voted unanimously to pass the Crown Hill Village upzone. When Crown Hill was first identified for upzoning, a group of committed neighbors came together to connect the community to the city process. The Crown Hill Urban Village Committee for Smart Growth worked tirelessly to create a seat at the table. CHUV Committee for Smart Growth The April Crown Hill Village board meeting included a conversation with the people who powered the Crown Hill Urban Village Committee for Smart Growth. They briefed the board on their work over the past four years attending HALA focus groups, speaking at city council meetings, building relationships with the city, and connecting the neighborhood to the upzone process. The group, started as a subcommittee of the Crown Hill Neighborhood Association, had representatives of all the neighborhoods (Crown Hill, Greenwood, Whittier Heights, and Loyal Heights) that have a stake in the Crown Hill Urban Village. New Name Chosen

We have a new Name! The new board wanted a name that exemplified the idea that the organization will represent both residents and businesses. Names discussed included neighborhood and community, but when the name village was suggested the whole room lit up. The Crown Hill Village - working for everybody who lives, works, and plays in the neighborhood.

Crown Hill partners with Skip Stone/The Bullitt Foundation A coalition of Crown Hill Committee for Smart Growth and Crown Hill Village board members are working with Skip Stone to work on creative uses of right of way. Streets and sidewalks are for everyone's use. When property is developed, property owners dedicate part of the land as "public right-of-way" for streets, sidewalks, utilities, and similar public uses. The Crown Hill Street Festival happens on 90th between 14th and Mary Ave NW - behind Turtle Coffee and Ace Hardware. The street festival is a neighborly kick off to summer and has featured live music, a food truck, artists from the Crown Hill Market, face painting, and giant bubbles.
