Coffee and Preparing for Disaster

Coffee and Disaster (Preparedness) "Is the city ready to respond to a disaster?" one neighbor asked. Carl, a representative of Seattle's Office of Emergency Management and Crown Hill neighbor, assured the group that The City has an extensive disaster management plan. Before the group completed their sigh of relief, Carl went on to explain why, even with that all of that planning, neighbors will need to depend on each other in the first days after a major earthquake. Not exactly the conversation you'd expect on a mild and sunny Saturday - but a very important one. In [...]

Gardeners Fred and Elizabeth had prepared for the event by borrowing tools and collecting a stack of reclaimed fence wood- some of it already decorated with a frosting of moss. "It's not about [...]

Phil Scroggs: Graphic Designer, illustrator, and the brains behind Crown Hill Village Instagram. Solopreneur: at Phillustrations since 2002. Worked From Home before it was cool: Telecommuting made it possible to relocate to Seattle while still working full-time for an Atlanta web design team. Crown Hill Holiday Market Returns! So good to be back in person for the Crown Hill Holiday Market. New neighborhood business Pups-a-Daisy threw open their doors and were fantastic partners in making this event happen. The previous two years the market was online so it was fantastic to get to walk through and see all the talented neighbors doing interesting things. The sun was shining and there was a steady stream of shoppers [...]
