Get Spooky in the Village!
Let's Get Spooky! The sun is warm and days are still long, but the Crown Hill Village Events squad is already planning for our first big event of the fall. The 3rd Annual Crown Hill-O-Ween Pet Parade is set for Saturday, October 28th, at Crown Hill Park. Last year, pets large and small strutted their costumes around Crown Hill Park while neighbors looked on and cheered. We met the Great and Terrible Pumpkin, we dined on Scooby Dogs, jumped in the leaf pile, made puppets out of Peeps, and played spooky games with some of our local [...]
Movie Dreams Do Come True
Movies are What Brings us Together Outdoor Movie Night at Crown Hill Park was a roaring success! Over 200 neighbors joined us for trivia, photo booth fun, popcorn, and The Princess Bride. Thanks to support from neighborhood businesses and artists The Crown Hill Village made the dream of a Crown Hill Park movie night into a reality. Not so long ago, Crown Hill Park was nothing but a field. Seattle Parks worked with the community to develop this empty field into an appealing space for our neighborhood to enjoy. Before the park was built, neighbors attended sessions [...]

Holman Road Overpass Mural
Holman Road Mural Project The Crown Hill Village Association (CHV) is working to create a vibrant cultural, economic, and social hub in the heart of the neighborhood. We are looking to hire an artist to design a mural for the underside of the Holman Road overpass, and perhaps incorporate the stairs and deck of the overpass. The overpass is a focal point and a perfect location to celebrate the neighborhood, their past work to encourage smart growth, and their future as a growing community. Click for details on the project, compensation, and timeline. Quick Overview The project: [...]
Coffee and Preparing for Disaster
Coffee and Disaster (Preparedness) "Is the city ready to respond to a disaster?" one neighbor asked. Carl, a representative of Seattle's Office of Emergency Management and Crown Hill neighbor, assured the group that The City has an extensive disaster management plan. Before the group completed their sigh of relief, Carl went on to explain why, even with that all of that planning, neighbors will need to depend on each other in the first days after a major earthquake. Not exactly the conversation you'd expect on a mild and sunny Saturday - but a very important one. In [...]
Build a Birdhouse
Third Annual Birdhouse Build It might not feel much like spring yet, but Gardener Fred knows that its nearly time for our local wrens and chickadees to make their way back to Crown Hill. On Sunday, Holman Grove rang with the sounds of hand saws and hammers as neighbors, volunteers, several kids, and a dog named Jojo got to work building birdhouses. Gardeners Fred and Elizabeth had prepared for the event by borrowing tools and collecting a stack of reclaimed fence wood- some of it already decorated with a frosting of moss. "It's not about [...]
